San Sael (born Misael Sánchez Reséndiz) is a Mexican singer-songwriter, engineer, and music producer.
His style, which he has called retrofuturistic rock-pop for vampires in space or laptop punk at different stages, is characterized by its eclecticism and deeply DIY spirit: his songs are born in the intimacy of his living room, through his laptop, his synthesizers, and his imagination.
Inspired by a wide variety of themes (including interstellar travel, love, the end of the world, and technology), San Sael uses characters such as aliens and vampires to construct stories that, although fantastical, constantly engage with reality. His sound mixes guitars, machines, and synthesizers, exploring both the roots of rock and Latin American rhythms.
After graduating with a degree in Music Production Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City, San Sael went on to complete a research master's degree at Paris 8 University, where he explored topics such as music in virtual spaces, artificial intelligence, and Latinofuturism.
Through his work, San Sael seeks to offer his audience a refuge for reflection, companionship, and catharsis, the same refuge he has found in the music of his own heroes.
